Jajuk jukebox and web radio
Editing
The metadata for a track – including information about the artist, track, album name, and year in which a song or the album was released – can be found in the files for all popular audio formats. Jajuk relies on major databases when retrieving data from the Internet, but occasional errors sneak in. To correct faulty data locally, you can right-click the affected track and select the Properties option from the context menu. This opens a window in which you can make all corrections and additions (Figure 3).
To browse the collection for duplicate songs, click on Tools | Find duplicate tracks in the menu. The software displays the duplicates and their locations and offers the possibility of selecting multiple files individually and deleting (Delete) or of deleting all duplicates at once (Select all duplicate tracks). This way you can be sure all deleted files are duplicates.
My Playlists
Once you have configured the program according to your wishes and organized the collection, it makes sense to create playlists by clicking on the Playlists button in the sidebar. Jajuk opens three panes from which you can fill the Playlists window on the right with tracks. To do this, select individual tracks or whole albums from the "Files tree" window on the left and drag them into the window on the right.
Once you have completed the playlists, save them in M3U format by clicking on the Save as button in the Playlists window, selecting the location and assigning a file name. By right-clicking a playlist in the Playlists window and choosing the desired action from the context menu, you can open the playlist.
If the window with the playlists remains open after you have saved the playlist, you must have specified an incorrect directory as the source. To configure it correctly, shift to Configuration | Device Wizard and select the correct location in the Quick Device Creation window.
The M3U files in this directory then appear at the top in the playlist window, and you see the individual tracks in the list below. If you have several source directories, the software lists them on the left in the "Files tree" window so that you can switch between the folders and M3U lists easily.
You should not remove individual tracks via the context menu using Delete when subsequently editing playlists; rather, you should select the Remove icon (looks like a minus sign) in the Control Panel to remove the entry from the list; otherwise, Delete removes the file from the hard drive.
Ratings
Jajuk opens up the possibility of finding your favorites quickly in large collections thanks to its integrated rating system. The algorithm not only measures how often you select a track, but whether you listen to the whole track or just part of it.
A scale of one to four stars is assigned according to the metrics the software creates for each track, and you can assign each track a personal rating that contributes toward the final rating. To do this in any perspective, you select the corresponding smiley icon from the drop-down menu at the far bottom right. To exclude individual tracks from the rating system, you can use the red Ban icon from the same drop-down. The software then excludes the track, although it still remains in the lists.
If you want to play the highest-rated tracks without creating a new collection for them, simply click on the button with the heart symbol at the bottom left in the program window. Alternatively, you can start playing all favorites by clicking Smart | Play best of.
