The Linux Plumbers Conference is September 17-19 in Portland, Oregon. According to the conference page: "The Linux Plumbers Conference was created to provide a forum for communication and problem- solving for issues which are system-wide and cross project boundaries. This community event includes both invited guests as well as open registration, gathering 300 stakeholders, decision makers and developers."

Jen Redman, organizing committee member, would like to see a nice turnout of women. Jen says, "We've put together a great student program for Tuesday, September 16, 2008 that will cover basic Linux 'plumbing' development, how to become involved in the development community and jobs in the field. We've also reserved the Portland NW Youth Hostel group center so lodging for students is about $25/night. I'd love to see lots of female students and more experienced developers at the conference."
