New and Improved: Opera 9.6
Version 9.5 of the free web browser Opera hasn’t been around that long, but developers have already released an update. Opera 9.6 comes with numerous improvements to the features in 9.5.
For example, to synchronize search engine settings and the typed browser history, Opera 9.6 saves the data to a central server, enabling the user,(if privacy is not too great an issue) to operate worldwide with the same settings.Opera’s feed preview feature allows the sampling of feed content before subscribing – avoiding the usual ‘’trial and error’’ method of discovering if a large website offers one main feed or also smaller feeds for individual topics.
A further addition to Opera 9.6 is the integrated e-mail program which supports mobile devices with poor quality connections. In the Low Bandwidth Mode, Opera will initially deposit attachments on the server, synchronize only new messages (IMAP) or alternatively, via POP can download the first 100 lines of a news item. Also, important mails can, with a single mouse click, be marked and followed.
Opera 9.6 is available at the download section of the website. Further information on new features and improvements for the Linux version of the new Opera can be found in the release notes.
