The new kernel release includes bugfixes and security updates.
The new release removes two security bugs: one bug affected the driver for Intel's i965G chipset, and the other, the Adaptec Raid driver.
In the case of the Intel driver, an incorrectly implemented buffer gave non-privileged users –access to the Direct Rendering Manager. The patch for the "aacraid" module removes an error in controls for access to the SCSI path via calls to Ioctl.
In addition to this, dozens of patches have been introduced to remove minor bugs. The release does not include any new functions. A list of changes is available in the changelog as usual.
The Stable Team advises all 2.6.22.x users to move to the new kernel version. The complete kernel sources and patches are available as downloads.
