The USA Today site posted an interesting article, called "'Geek Girl' helps keep Mozilla safe in scary times," about Window Snyder, Mozilla's 'chief security something-or-other'. I see a lot about women in technology needing more mentors, so I was happy to see that Window's dear ol' mom taught her to program Basic when she was only five. more »

Today, maddog blogged that Linus Torvalds and Bob Metcalfe will be inducted into the Computer History Museum's Hall of Fellows this October. The museum, located in Mountain View, California, has an impressive list of exhibits, including a collection of computer marketing brochures, early computers and vintage PCs, and the Babbage Engine. Our editor in chief, Joe Casad, and I once had a heated discussion about using he/she, he, she, or 'they' when we were referring to a singular gender-neutral person. I thought that if the article's author is male, we should use he, and if the article author is female, we'd use she. Joe thought that we should use they, even though it's technically plural, because they is now commonly accepted... more »
