GCC 4.2.2 Fixes Bugs

The developers of the GNU Compiler Collection (GCC) have published the new 4.2.2 version just three months after the previous release.

Just like the previous version 4.2.2 is a bugfix release. According to Mark Mitchell the developers have fixed bugs that affected GCC 4.2.1 and earlier versions, although the anounce mail does not specify what they are. The stable version 4.2, which was released in May, included a number of changes and new features.

The current version completes the migration of the GNU Compiler Collection to GPL Version 3; this step was announced with the release of GCC 4.2.1, however, the previous version of GCC was still under GPLv2. Older code which was previously GPLv2 licensed will stay that way. New code will be released under GPL generation three from now on.

The source code is available from the GNU project’s FTP servers.
